Phonak Hearing Aids

Phonak develops hearing aids according to a philosophy of “Well-Hearing.” Beyond simply giving you the ability to hear, well-hearing helps you achieve a “greater state of physical, cognitive and social/emotional well-being.” For over 70 years, they have been striving to push the limits of what technology can do to provide well-hearing in even the most challenging listening environments.

They were the first hearing aid company to incorporate Bluetooth in their hearing aids, which is now a near-ubiquitous technology. Bluetooth is comfortably integrated into the majority of Phonak’s hearing aids today.

Phonak is based in Switzerland and is among the largest hearing aid manufacturers in the world, represented in over 100 countries across the globe.

Audéo Paradise

Phonak’s flagship RIC (receiver-in-canal) hearing aids offer several elevated features. The ActiveVent Receiver is the world’s first active hearing aid speaker, with a mechanically switching vent that helps optimize the sound of your voice while at the same time delivering outstanding hearing performance. It is controlled by AutoSense OS 4.0, which automatically adjusts the hearing aids’ programming as you move through different environments. This allows Paradise to achieve the best results whether you’re in a quiet, one-on-one conversation, or a busy environment with lots of background sound.

The Speech Enhancer identifies speech even from a distance, or when someone is speaking more quietly and boosts the level to a comfortable hearing volume.

Phonak Hearing Aids

The myPhonak smartphone app allows you to control the ratio of speech to background noise in real-time. Sometimes you may want more or less background noise, depending on the type of situation and even your mood at the time. Rather than limiting your options, Phonak puts you in the driver’s seat by letting you control the way you hear right from your phone, without ever having to touch your Phonak hearing aids.

You can even use your hearing aids for hands-free calling and interacting with voice assistants. By tapping your ear, you can access these things and more. The sensitivity of the Tap Control can be adjusted in the app, allowing you to set it to suit your style so you won’t activate it accidentally.

And speaking of personal style, Audéo Paradise is available in 8 different colors to match your skin tone or provide some flair! Additionally, 5 different models allow you to choose the technology level and battery style to suit your needs. The Audéo Life is even waterproof up to 1.64 feet!

Lyric

Lyric is a very different kind of hearing aid, and the world’s only completely invisible hearing aid designed to be worn around the clock. Lyric is inserted deep into your ear canal by your audiologist and worn there for months at a time. It is removed for battery replacement and then reinserted; you never have to touch it!

Lyric is not appropriate for everyone, but those with mild hearing loss have been overwhelmingly pleased with how it works—93% say they would recommend them to a friend.

Unlike nearly all other hearing aids on the market today, Lyric uses no digital technology. The audio path is completely analog, which means there is zero latency and no noise reduction, speech enhancement, or Bluetooth. This helps provide the most natural sound that a hearing aid can offer, while at the same time meaning it will not be helpful to some.

Lyric is water-resistant but not waterproof. Showering is fine while wearing Lyric, but you should not submerge your head while they are in.

Phonak offers a full range of hearing aids in all common varieties, including BTE (behind-the-ear), ITE (in-the-ear), and CROS (contralateral routing of signal) for unilateral hearing loss. Phonak Accessories

Phonak Accessories

Phonak also offers a range of accessories to complement and care for their hearing aids. The Phonak Charge and Care charger is a popular add-on that not only charges but also dries and disinfects your hearing aids overnight with activated airflow and UV light. About 60% of hearing aid repairs that are made out of warranty are moisture-related, so a drying charger can be a valuable investment.

You can also purchase additional microphones that will connect wirelessly to your hearing aids. These can be invaluable in larger meetings, or when you’re out with a partner in public.

The TV Connector hooks up to your television or stereo, then streams audio directly to your hearing aids. Multiple sets of Phonak hearing aids can be connected to the TV Connector at once, and volume can be set individually for each pair of hearing aids. No more arguments over the volume level!
